French governent has initiated a vast campaign against P2P and Direct Download which forced people to look toward crypted networks, VPN and other kind of fancy stuff to hide their communications. Compagnies now run their business with the « nobody will spy on you » thing, and advanced users are aware of such tools. The privacy thing is not true as the traffic can use US network and can be intercepted by US agencies when not in the crypted tunnel, though it's another story. The french agency now hardly figures how to pin point the bad guys and the interesting communications to decipher in order to get the intelligence they need. So they go old school again.
It's funny to see how the french government made such a mess and to hear DGSE say in a more polite way : « stop your shitty laws against piracy, we are loosing all the easy ways to intercept internet communications ».
