Monsanto now overriding natural law by attempting to patent multiple common vegetables, fruits

(NaturalNews) Global biotechnology megalith Monsanto is no longer content with simply manipulating and patenting its own genetically-modified (GM) counterfeits of nature. According to a new petition created by the human rights advocacy group Avaaz, Monsanto is right now attempting to exploit little-known loopholes in European law for the ultimate purpose of patenting common fruits and vegetables that exist naturally in nature - and the president of the European Patent Office (PAO) has apparently given his blessing to this malicious endeavor.

Just when we all thought that corporate agriculture could not get any more predatory and deranged in its pursuit of power over the food supply, fresh news emerges about Monsanto's attempts to play the role of God by claiming ownership of natural fruits and vegetables. According to Avaaz, Monsanto is using PAO's application process to file for patents on things like natural cucumbers and tomatoes, and unless a cohort of proactive European nations takes action now to stop this effort, the multinational corporation could soon assume control over the conventional food supply.

"Companies like Monsanto have found loopholes in European law to have exclusive rights over conventional seeds, so we just need to close them shut before they set a dangerous global precedent," explains the petition. "And to do that, we need key countries like Germany, France and the Netherlands - where opposition is already growing - to call for a vote to stop Monsanto's greedy plans."

The petition, which has already been signed by more than 2.1 million people as of this writing, is simple: It calls on the leaders of these three important countries, and the Administrative Council of the European Patent Organization, to amend European patent law to block these egregious loopholes. With enough signatures and a groundswell of grassroots opposition, the hope is that these countries will take swift action to protect the God-given right of people everywhere to access nature freely without having to get permission from a corporation with an extensive track record of deception and fraud.

"Since the year 2000, there have been more and more patents granted on plants and animals derived from conventional breeding" in the EU, explains a recent report put forth by the group No Patents on Seeds entitled President of the European Patent Office gives green light for patents on plants and animals: Patent office ignores the position of the European Parliament. "Presently, there are around 100 such patents on plants, and around 1,000 applications have been filed."

Your help needed to stop the approval of Monsanto patents on dozens more plants
This is heinous news, but it gets worse. According to the same report, Monsanto, Syngenta, and various other biotechnology companies are in the process of filing for many more patents in 2013, and have no intention of stopping until they own every plant in existence. No Patents on Seeds says dozens of new patents covering species like broccoli, onions, melons, lettuce and cucumber are set to be approved in the coming weeks and months.

No Patents on Seeds has also come up with a short list of political instruments that it hopes can be used to reign in the EPO and stop this madness. These instruments include having EU member states order a diplomatic conference on the European Patent Convention (EPC) to exclude natural plants and animals from being patented.

This is a never ending fight. The best way to go would be to create a list of illegal actions and make it a universal law, such as declaring illegal and subject to very high level punishment:

* all OGM forbidden, and creating new species of animals, vegetables, or breeding all completely illegal and forbidden;

* declaring any form of life one's or a company's property completely illegal and any attempt to do so an offense likely to bring the offending ones to be trialed and condemned;

* declaring any form of scientific discovery one's or a company's property completely illegal: fancy how much would we own to the one who discovered the use of fire, the use of the wheel, the ways to create lines to bring water from one point to the other so we have water in the tap, electricity in the houses and so on?

Read this morning in the newspaper that scientists
actually made a hamburger from stem cells
that they succeeded in growing from a cow.

Mass production next they said.

So guess what could be in my Subway and cherry-coke.

Can you give the link to your reading? What is "your Subway"?

PS: organic breeding and growing when well lead can increase the production up to 80% of what it was former (after a few years when the soil is fertile again). The scientist tricks to "increase production" is just a bluff to make more money (with less sweat).

Well there is no link that I have, the story was in the morning Chicago
Tribune newspaper.    They didn't grow a cow just some meat.     Put a piece of
meat in a container with some stem cells in some solution and the
piece of meat started growing.   Big enough to harvest and eat.

A Subway is a US fast food restaurant that sells foot long sub-sandwiches
at a reasonable price.    Meat, veggies, dressings, all on a foot long roll.
They call it a submarine sandwich because it's shaped like a submarine.

The $330,000 Fake Burger

The world’s first lab-grown hamburger was pan-fried in butter and served up in London today.

Scientists hope the five-ounce patty, made from 100 percent test-tube meat, heralds the future of food production. But the first people to digest this scientific marvel were hardly impressed by the flavor. “It was very, very neutral,” Josh Schonwald, the author of The Taste of Tomorrow, told me. “It was more like a platform for other flavors, like pasta.”

That wasn’t what Sergey Brin, the Google founder who funded this project, wanted to hear. For the research team, however, the taste of the meat isn’t the primary concern at this stage. The burger, grown from a few cells taken from a living cow, was the culmination of almost a decade of scientific breakthroughs. It’s “on the cusp of viability,” said Brin in a video message. “If what you are doing is not seen by some people as science fiction, you are not being transformative enough.”

The prototype burger, which cost more than $330,000, was made up of about 40 billion cells produced in a lab in the Netherlands. Dr. Mark Post, the professor at Maastricht University who has masterminded the in vitro meat project, said an improved version was likely to be available from stores in the next 10 to 20 years.

The next test will be convincing consumers that they have nothing to fear from men in white coats making their lunch in a petri dish. “We are producing meat. It’s just not in a cow,” Post said during a presentation in West London.

He foresees supermarkets offering two identical products, with the traditionally slaughtered food bearing a mandated label that says “animals were harmed in the making of this meat,” though he admits that someone has got to come up with a better name for his lab meat. “We’re sticking with Cultured Beef for now,” he said. “Which is better than Franken-burger, but it’s not very satisfactory.”

Work also remains to be done on the product. The chef, who was asked to cook the burger on a gas stove in front of a small audience, admitted that there was very little aroma coming from the sizzling patty, and his regular basting with more and more butter suggested he was finding it difficult to get a good sear.

Muhahahahahhhaaaa!!!

Soja proteins are one of the most inexpensive source of proteins renewed fast and easy to transform by anyone not having a sophisticated scientific laboratory, is known to be healthy and good to eat. And it also has a neutral flavor allowing to prepare it with many recipes!
